There is the Polar Magnus, who combines the 'classic' Magnus, with Ice dub body and pink hackle.

I just started to flyfish for pike, very nice sport only the places where i usually fish (Dutch lowlands) are often windy and i'm not good at casting with wind (yet). Still learning though and it gets better and better but thats the main reason i grab my spinning rod instead of the flyrod. Too bad i don't have time to ty my own flies, following school next to my fulltime job, but when i'm finished i'm sure this will be my next step in the magic flyfishing world.

A little outdated but nevertheless a very usefull site is http://www.flyshop.no/. I don't know where you are going in Norway (south, midel etc) but i've been to the southern regions the end of May this year and caught a couple of nice trout on a black/red montana. Of course you should also carry a couple of pheasant tail nimphs with you but i quess you already have them ready and waiting. I talked to a local in the Evje region (Setesdal) and he told me that not the fly but the presentation is often the biggest issue. That was a little bit of a problem to me because i ain't the best caster around (at least not yet ;)) When you go to this area just message me, maybe i can help you a little bit further.

About 15 years ago a guide at Lee's Ferry fluffed up his strike indicators by combing the yarn with the rigid side of velcro. Worked so good I put the velcro on the end of 1/4" copper pipe about 3" long to make a velcro comb.

Just purchased loop bottle tubes, what end do you tie the fly on, the thin narrow end, or the thick end.
Plastic tube that holds hook appears not to go over thick end.

I actually never reach for the chewed up fly!

I tie the flies as they are supposed to look. If it's supposed to look chewed up, I tie it chewed up. Velcro and brushes can do that. I cannot expect fish to finish the job for me - what if I don't catch any? Then my fly will keep on looking new and inedible.
And I always prefer a newly and neatly tied fly the the one that's badly tied or banged up.

But that might just be me...

Rough they may be, will they catch fish? Certainly! Will they win awards for the tyer? NO way! How often do you reach for the fly that has been chewed up by many fish as you know it catches fish? I like nice clean lines on my flies too, but the fish arent trying to catch us on those flies, its the other way about.

I happen to know what fly Nils used: a small (#10) black Zulu-like fly with a brass bead - black marabou tail, peacock herl body and black front hackle. He tied it at my living room table the night before... ;-)

This is a confusion

This is a confusion that is rather easy to understand... The german word "See" means lake and "Meer" is sea. So the "Seeforelle" should not be translated as sea trout, but as lake trout.

Well what about fly fishing

Well what about fly fishing for pike and perch? That's very effective and though more difficult, fly fishng for zander?

Fly fishing is extremely addictive, and it's been my passion since the age of 12. When you start tying your own flies (if you don't already do), the sport becomes very rewarding. Then there's targeting different species, entomology, the list just continues.

One of the main reasons why I love fly fishing, is that it's more difficult than bait fishing and spinning. The feel you get of a fighting fish through a fly rod is something else.

That's definetly flyfishing nowadays. If you had asked me that question 2 years ago i would have answerd lure fishing but since my second best discovery of my life (flyfishing, my girlfriend is the best [size=9:c1a8710e66]maybe she's reading this ;)[/size:c1a8710e66]) I'm completely hooked on this kind of sport. Too bad the dutch countryside isn't the best place for a beginner for fishing with a flyrod so I'llI regulary take my spinning rod chasing the pike. But it says it all when i state that my flyfishing stuff is kept inside when the rest of my fishing gear is stacked in the shed :D

Don't forget, One can add a "Hot Spot" on the Czech Nymph.. Usually just 2 -3 turns of Hot Orange, Flo. Chart; Hot Pink or Flo. Yellow Dubbing.. These are usually applied right in front of the Body- before the Thorax. But some are applied at the Mid point on the Shank. They can often get a Fish interested in the Nymph.. just a hint of Brightness...

Czech Nymphs Rock!!! I've been finding plenty of Locations here in California, where they are the Only way to get the Trout to bite..

Searched for "epoxy

Searched for "epoxy fly dryer" on google and found some good infomation last night on www.Reeltime.com discussion group. 1. Use "disco ball" motor. Some Electronic Repair companies may carry them. 2. Remove "Barbacue Roto Motor" from grill. 3. Remove "Sponge Drum Humidifier motor" and use it.
Go to www.scientificsonline.com for motors 3-4 rpm. They have small motors for $5 or so and a heavy duty 115v for $25 I think.
Also, check out www.hagensfish.com for "plug drying table" on pp. 156 and they have 4 rpm motors for $12.95.
Also check out www.jannsnetcraft.com for Rod building motors on pp. 62-63 of catalog.
A great comment from someone on reeltime discussion said he used his Rod making motor. Put in a fiberglass/graphite Rod -- put cork rings every 6" and attached his epoxy flies to the cork. He said he could put 2-3 doz. flies on one Rod. After turning for 2 hours -- he stands the "Rod/Flies" up to finish drying and puts in another Rod/cork and starts a new batch of epoxy flies.
